Sundae Delights

Damn, that banner is distracting! Delicious, isn't it? Almost as delicious as the story I chose for this edition of Sundae Delight.

Conversations with My Killer by the awesome Oracle Vas.
This story really rocks my world, and that's a hard thing to do, trust me.

What happens when the novelty of your vampire boyfriend wears off and even an engagement doesn't make you happy? You start talking to the only one that isn't the fake image of perfection, the others pretend to be. Right?

A random family picnic is where Jasper finally takes notice of Bella and her emotional turmoil. She finds it strange, because he never seemed to care before. His studying gaze makes her uncomfortable, but she doesn't point it out.

After the picnic, she is left to her own thoughts. Writing letters in the mud, Bella reflects on her relationship with Edward and herself as a person. Jasper joins her in the mud, his curiosity too great to stay away. Their conversation will be the first of many.

Jasper is not like the others; he's crude, honest and direct, traits that both intrigue and disgust Bella. He teaches her things about herself, that she didn't know herself and works hard to make her more self-reliant. His methods might not always be considered gentle and patient, but they are effective.

A strange friendship is formed, but it's soon shadowed by other emotions. They play it off as a consequence of Jasper's power, but they can't deny it forever. With Jasper, Bella connects in a way she never did with Edward and she wants him.

But Jasper has secrets. Secrets that give him a certain role to play in the faux-family he's part of. Secrets that stand in the way.

You should really go read this story. The views on life and situations are surprising and enlightening. Bella goes through a transformation from obedient dog to a woman who knows what she wants and will stop at nothing to get it. And Jasper,...

I'm simply in love with this Jasper. He's cold, detached and secretive, but at the same time there is a depth to him that I have never read/seen before. He's strong, wise and determined for everything to play out the way he wants. He's a bastard, but you won't be able to remain unaffected by him. You can clearly see he cares, because no matter how much he tries to deny it, Bella affects him in more ways than he cares to admit.

I could talk about this story for hours, but I wouldn't want to bore you further.
So all that's left for me to say, is, "Go read it! NOW!".

Love,
Shirley
